How a crack repair works
- We remove the part, clean and degrease it, and read the material marking (PP, ABS, PC and others).
- The ends of the crack are drilled so it does not spread further.
- A reinforcing mesh is melted into the back side; the front is filled with a welding rod of the same plastic.
- Sanding and shaping, then primer and paint if the part is painted.
- The part goes back on and the mounts are checked.
What affects the price
- Length of the crack and how many there are on the part.
- Broken mounting tabs: rebuilding a tab takes more work than welding a straight crack.
- Surface type: painted plastic, textured black trim or glossy chrome-look plastic.
- Bumper or headlights that must come off to reach the part.
- Availability and price of a new part — sometimes replacing is the better deal.

Can any plastic be repaired?

Can I just glue it or use zip ties?
To get home, yes. But glue holds poorly on polypropylene, and road vibration keeps opening the crack. Welding with mesh lasts far longer.
Will textured black plastic show the repair?
On textured trim the weld can show up close. We can hide it on the back side or paint the part, and we agree which before we start.
My wheel arch liner is torn and rubbing the tire — is it safe to drive?
Only a short distance, and slowly. A loose edge can wrap around the wheel or pull on sensor wiring. Tie it up for now. In the shop we weld the tear and rebuild the clips and mounts.
Do you repair chrome or gloss black trim?
We can weld a crack, but the chrome layer can't be restored at the repair spot. Gloss black trim needs painting after welding. For chrome pieces, replacement is usually the better deal.
