What oil a Toyota needs
- Viscosity and spec per the Toyota service book for your engine (viscosity and spec from the Toyota manual). Many modern petrol and hybrid Toyotas are designed for low-viscosity oil; a thicker oil "just in case" is not better — it is worse for the cam phasers and consumption.
- Land Cruiser and Prado diesels need diesel-spec oil, not the same as a petrol Camry.
- Imported car with no service book — we select by VIN and engine code.
What is different on a Toyota
- Cartridge or spin-on filter. Some Toyota engines use a paper element in a housing: it is undone with a dedicated tool, and the O-ring and drain plug are replaced, otherwise it may leak. Others use a regular spin-on filter.
- Hybrids (Prius and others). The engine does not run on demand: to check the level and leaks after the change, it is started in maintenance mode.
- Drain plug washer — new every time.
- Reminder reset. We reset the maintenance indicator on the dash using the procedure for your model.
Why change more often in Batumi
