CVT TransmissionRepair
CVT repair at PRO SERVICE (Batumi, Airport Highway 212): diagnostics for continuously variable transmissions of any make, fluid and filter changes, and tracing judder, whine and limp mode. Diagnostics from … GEL, time 1-2 hours. Internal repair: …
How a CVT differs from a regular automatic
A CVT has no fixed gears: a steel belt (a chain on some models) runs between two variable-width pulleys, so the ratio changes smoothly. Oil pressure clamps the pulleys, so a CVT is touchy about fluid type, fluid condition, overheating and hard launches. It needs its own CVT fluid. Regular ATF from a conventional automatic won't do.
Symptoms
- Judder when pulling away or jerking during gentle acceleration at low speed.
- Whine or hum that rises with speed — pulley bearings or a worn belt.
- Revs climb but the car barely accelerates — belt slip, low pressure.
- Limp mode after a long climb or on a hot day — the CVT overheated. Adjara's mountain roads and summer traffic are exactly that.
- A thump or delay when selecting D or R.
How we diagnose
- Read gearbox fault codes and live data: pressure, fluid temperature, commanded vs actual pulley speeds (this shows slip).
- Check fluid level and condition; metal on the pan magnets is a wear sign.
- Road test in the conditions where the problem shows up.
- Explain what will help: fluid change and relearn, valve body repair, belt and bearing replacement or a used replacement unit — each with a price.
Cars with a CVT
CVTs are fitted to many cars popular in Georgia: Nissan Qashqai, X-Trail, Juke, Mitsubishi Outlander, ASX, Lancer, plus a number of Toyota, Honda and Subaru models. Many arrived used with no gearbox service history. Check the CVT and change the fluid after purchase. Nissan has its own page: Nissan CVT repair.

FAQ
How much does CVT repair cost?
Diagnostics from … GEL, repair from … GEL. The total depends on the model and what is worn: valve body, belt, pulleys or bearings.
Will a fluid change fix a juddering CVT?
At an early stage often yes, together with a relearn. If the belt or pulleys are already scored, fresh fluid only softens the symptom.
How often should CVT fluid be changed?
Per the manufacturer's schedule. With heat, mountain roads and stop-and-go traffic, sooner rather than "filled for life".
Can I keep driving with a whining CVT?
Briefly and gently. A failing bearing sheds metal that damages the pulleys and hydraulics, and the repair gets more expensive.
Do you work on all makes?
Diagnostics and fluid changes — for CVTs of different makes. Whether an internal repair is possible we confirm for the specific model.
