Check Engine Light Sensor Diagnosis and Replacement

Check Engine Light SensorDiagnosis and Replacement

Check engine light sensor diagnosis at PRO SERVICE (Batumi, Airport Highway 212): we test the suspect part with live data and a circuit check, and replace only what is actually faulty. Labor from … GEL per sensor, time 30-90 min depending on access.

What each sensor does and how a failure shows

  • Oxygen (O2) — reads the air-fuel mixture. A failing one means higher fuel use, mixture or catalyst codes.
  • MAF / MAP — measures how much air enters the engine. Symptoms: hesitation, hunting idle, weak pull.
  • Crankshaft position — without its signal the engine will not start or stalls when hot.
  • Camshaft position — hard starting, timing codes, limp mode.
  • Coolant temperature — hard cold starts, fan never comes on or runs all the time, wrong gauge reading.
  • Oil pressure — the oil light flickers or stays on. We check real oil pressure first: the part may be fine and the pressure may not.
  • Knock — loss of power, fault code, retarded ignition.
  • ABS wheel speed — ABS and ESP lights on; on some cars the speedometer stops working.

Why we do not replace a part by the code alone

A "sensor X" code means the ECU sees an odd signal on that circuit. Maybe the part is dead. Maybe it's the wiring or the connector. Or a real mechanical problem is there and the part reports it honestly, like an O2 code caused by a vacuum leak or misfires. So we:

  • Compare live data with normal values for the engine.
  • Check the wiring and connector. Corrosion in Batumi's humid climate is a frequent cause.
  • Bench-test it where possible.
  • Replace it and confirm the code does not return after a test drive.

What affects the price

Part price depends on the model. Labor depends on access. A coolant temperature sensor often takes minutes. Those under the intake manifold or in the gearbox need disassembly. A seized O2 sensor sometimes has to be heated to come out.

FAQ

Can I use an aftermarket part?

For simple ones, often yes. Aftermarket O2, MAF and crank units can be unreliable. We'll advise for your model. …

The code went away after replacement but came back. Why?

Most likely the cause was wiring or mechanical, not the part. Hence the circuit check before we replace anything.

How much does replacement cost?

Labor from … GEL plus the part. Exact price after diagnostics.

How long does it take?

30-90 min for most.
