Brake FluidChange
Brake fluid change at PRO SERVICE (Batumi, Airport Highway 212): we test the old fluid for moisture, replace it completely with fluid of the right DOT class. Then we bleed every circuit until clean, air-free fluid comes out. Price from … GEL, takes about an hour.
Why change it if the level is fine
Brake fluid is hygroscopic: it slowly absorbs moisture from the air through the hoses and the reservoir cap. The more water, the lower the boiling point. On a long descent the fluid at the calipers can boil, vapour bubbles form and the pedal sinks. Water also corrodes pistons, cylinders and the ABS unit from the inside. In Batumi's humid climate and on Adjara's mountain roads this matters even more: the reservoir level can be perfect while the fluid is already unfit.
Signs it is time
- The manufacturer's interval has passed (usually given in years, not kilometres).
- The tester shows elevated moisture.
- The fluid is dark, cloudy or has sediment.
- The pedal feels softer or spongy, especially after repeated braking.
- You bought a used car with no service history — better to change it right away.
Which fluid goes in
The class is printed on the reservoir cap or in the manual: DOT 3, DOT 4, DOT 5.1. Glycol-based DOT 4 and DOT 5.1 are usually compatible with DOT 3 and can be used as an upgrade. DOT 5 is silicone-based, does not mix with the others and is not used in ordinary cars. We only fill what is approved for your car.
How we do it
- Fluid condition test, hoses and lines inspected.
- Old fluid drawn out of the reservoir, new fluid added.
- Each wheel bled in the order the manufacturer specifies, until clean fluid without bubbles comes out.
- On cars that require it, the ABS unit is bled with a scanner.
- Pedal and level check, test drive.
What happens if you never change it
Wet fluid boils sooner, and brake fade on a descent comes suddenly. The pedal goes to the floor, then after cooling everything seems fine again, which is why the problem is easy to miss. Moisture eats caliper pistons, they start to stick: wheels drag, pads wear unevenly. An ABS unit repair costs far more than a fluid change.

FAQ
How much does a brake fluid change cost?
From … GEL including bleeding. Volume and fluid type depend on the car.
Can I just top it up?
Topping up is fine if the level dropped because the pads wore down. But it will not fix old, wet fluid, and a sudden drop in level means a leak.
How often should it be changed?
Per the manufacturer's schedule; if you do not have it at hand, we test the fluid at every service.
Can it be done together with pads?
Yes, it is convenient: the wheels are already off and bleeding is needed anyway.
