Why it isn't always "two minutes"

On some cars you change the bulb by hand from under the bonnet. On others the air filter box, wheel arch liner, battery or even the bumper and headlight have to come off. Price and time depend on the model — tell us yours in advance for a firmer quote.

Halogen, xenon, LED

• Halogen. The most common type. Don't touch the glass: skin oil shortens bulb life.
• Xenon (HID). Runs through a ballast. If the light flickers or won't come on, the cause can be the bulb, the ballast or the wiring — we check in order so you don't replace parts you don't need. Bulbs are usually replaced in pairs: new and old ones differ in color.
• LED. In factory LED headlights the module or the whole headlight is usually replaced, not a "bulb".

We don't recommend putting LED or xenon bulbs into headlights designed for halogen: the beam scatters and dazzles oncoming drivers.

When it isn't the bulb

• The same bulbs keep blowing — we check charging voltage and the connector (corrosion, burnt contact).
• Still dark after replacement — fuse, relay, earth or wiring; that's auto electrical repair.
• Condensation inside the headlight — common in Batumi's damp climate: the seal has failed, and water damages the reflector and contacts.
• Dim light with new bulbs — the lens has gone cloudy; headlight polishing helps.

How we do it

• Identify the base type and wattage from the catalogue and the old bulb.
• Replace it, check the connector and the headlight cover seal.
• Check all exterior lights and adjust headlight aim if needed.
