Seasonal Inspection: Getting YourCar Ready for Summer

Why before summer

Batumi summers are hot and humid, with traffic on the city approaches and along the seafront. The engine runs for long stretches without cooling airflow, the AC works flat out, and rubber and plastics age faster in the sun. A fault you didn't notice in spring shows up on the first hot day in traffic. Humidity adds its own issues: damp interiors, AC smell, corroded connectors and terminals.

What we check

Air conditioning:

• vent outlet temperature and system pressure;
• radiator fan and compressor clutch operation;
• cabin filter condition and smell when switched on.

Engine cooling:

• coolant level, condition, freeze point and color;
• hoses, clamps and radiator (often clogged outside with fluff, leaves and insects);
• fans and thermostat on a warm engine.

Tires and suspension:

• tread depth, sidewall cracks, pressure;
• uneven wear — a reason for a wheel alignment;
• brake pads and discs before long trips.

Electrics:

• battery load test: heat shortens battery life too;
• alternator belt, all exterior lights, wiper blades.

Before a long summer trip

If you're planning a long drive in the heat, we add a check of the spare wheel, jack, tire pressure for a full load, oil and brake fluid levels. Take water for yourself and watch the temperature gauge on climbs.

What you get

A list of findings marked "urgent", "soon" or "keep an eye on". Nothing is replaced without your approval. If the AC needs it — AC recharge; if the coolant is old — coolant change.
