ECU (Engine ControlUnit) Repair
ECU repair at PRO SERVICE (Batumi, Airport Highway 212): we first prove the unit itself is at fault, not its power supply, ground or wiring. Then we repair it or source a replacement and adapt it to the car. Diagnostics from … GEL, time 1-3 hours. Unit repair: ….
When the ECU is suspected
- The scanner cannot see the engine module ("no communication").
- The engine will not start: no spark or injection with good sensors.
- Fault codes for several unrelated sensors at once that do not check out.
- The module got wet: a leak into the cabin or engine bay, or a flood-damaged car.
- After a bad jump start, reversed battery polarity, or welding on the body with the battery connected.
Why we test around the ECU first
Many "dead" ECUs turn out to be fine. The problem is around them: a blown supply fuse, a corroded ground, a damaged connector, chafed wiring, a weak battery. So the order is:
- Check power and ground at the module against the model's diagram.
- Inspect the connector for corrosion and water.
- Check the communication line and wiring to key sensors.
- Only when everything around it is good do we remove the unit.
Options if the ECU is faulty
- Board repair: restoring traces and components after corrosion or overheating. Not always possible.
- Used unit from a breaker: cheaper, but it must be adapted to the car — software, immobilizer, keys. Without that the engine will not start.
- New unit: the most predictable option, but more expensive and it needs programming.
We tell you which fits your car after diagnostics, before any work starts.

FAQ
Can I just buy a used ECU and plug it in?
Without adaptation to the immobilizer and keys the engine will usually not start. The part number also has to match your car's spec.
Can a water-damaged ECU be saved?
Sometimes, if corrosion has not gone far and the unit was not powered while wet. Every day of delay lowers the chances.
The idle hunts after I disconnected the battery — is the ECU broken?
Usually not: on many models the ECU relearns idle and throttle after losing power. If it does not settle after a few drives, it needs an adaptation or a throttle body clean.
How long does it take?
Diagnostics: 1-3 hours. Repair time depends on the option chosen.
