• Shutting down right after hard driving: after a mountain climb or a fast run, let the engine idle briefly so the turbo cools.
• Foreign object: a piece of air filter or an intake part smashes the compressor wheel.
• High back pressure: a clogged catalytic converter or DPF.
• Worn piston rings: crankcase gases push oil through the turbo — then a new turbo will not help.
