When spot painting is suitable
- A scratch down to metal or primer at the edge of a panel.
- A chip or small dent on a bumper, fender, door.
- Damage near the edge or crease of a panel.
Not suitable: large areas, or damage in the middle of a hood or roof, where the blend would show. Then we paint the whole panel.
How we do it
- Sanding the damage, primer, filler if needed.
- Color matching by paint code, test spray-out.
- Base coat on the area, clear coat blended onto the undamaged zone.
- Drying, polishing the blend zone.
What affects the price
- Damage depth: a scratch in the clear coat only, down to primer or down to bare metal.
- A dent that needs pulling or leveling with filler.
- Paint type: solid, metallic, pearl or three-stage.
- Panel material: plastic needs its own primer, metal needs corrosion treatment.
- Panel size: a small panel leaves little room for an invisible blend, so the area has to grow.
How to check the work
Look at the area in daylight from different angles. The shade matches the paint around it. No step or dull strip at the blend edge. The clear coat is smooth, with no orange peel or runs. Run your palm over it. You shouldn't feel the edge of the repair.

Will the painted spot be visible?
No, with code matching and a clear coat blend. Metallic and pearl colors are harder. If the blend would be noticeable on that part, we tell you up front to paint the whole panel.
Why is spot painting cheaper than painting the whole panel?
Less material and labor — usually cheaper by 30-50%.
Can I just cover the scratch with a touch-up pen?
A pen keeps rust off the scratch, but you see it up close. If you plan to sell or rent the car out, go with spot painting.
How long will I wait?
1 day for a scratch or chip; most of that time is drying and polishing the blend zone.
Why is the painted area wider than the scratch?
Base coat goes on the prepared area, and the clear coat is stretched further so the edge fades out. Painting exactly along the damage outline leaves a visible line.
How many times can the same spot be repainted?
Each repaint adds a layer. We measure the paint thickness with a gauge first. If the layer is already thick, we strip the old paint, or it may crack.
Can you fix the small scratches nearby at the same time?
Scratches in the clear coat only often come out with polishing, no paint needed, and that's cheaper. Ones that catch a fingernail and reach the primer go into the paint area, so the panel doesn't need a second visit.
