Coolant Change andCooling System Flush
Coolant change at PRO SERVICE (Batumi, Airport Highway 212): we drain the old coolant, flush the system when needed, refill with coolant that meets your manufacturer's spec and bleed out air pockets. From … GEL, with a flush from … GEL, takes 1-2 hours. We check for leaks before we start.
When to change coolant
- The manufacturer's interval is due. Intervals differ between brands and coolant types, so check your owner's manual.
- The coolant looks brown or cloudy, with flakes, rust or an oily film.
- The engine runs hot in traffic, the temperature gauge wanders, the fan runs almost constantly.
- The heater blows only lukewarm air — often air in the system or a clogged heater core.
- The level in the expansion tank drops, there are drips under the car or a sweet smell inside.
- You bought the car used or imported and don't know what's in the system.
In Batumi engines idle a lot in summer traffic. That's hard on the cooling system. Old coolant moves heat worse and protects against corrosion worse.
Drain and fill, flush or machine flush
- Drain and fill. We drain the radiator (and the block where there is a drain plug). Some old coolant stays in the passages and heater core. That's fine if the old fluid was in good shape.
- Change with flush. Needed if the coolant is dirty, you are switching to another type, or you don't know what was used. We flush with water or a cleaning agent, then refill.
- Machine flush. Equipment pushes fluid through the system and replaces the old coolant almost completely. Availability: ….
We say which option makes sense once we've looked at the coolant.
Which coolant to use
Coolants differ in additive technology (silicate, organic acid, hybrid and others), and color won't reliably tell you which is which. Mixing incompatible types can cause sludge and a clogged radiator. We pick coolant by the spec in your manual. Concentrate goes in with distilled water to the right freeze point. Frost is rare in Batumi, but mountain trips need a margin.
How we do it
- Check the level, leaks, hoses and clamps, tank cap, radiator and water pump.
- Drain and flush if needed.
- Refill and bleed air using the procedure for your engine.
- Warm up until the thermostat opens, check the fan and heater, top up.
- Measure the freeze point of the final mix.
If we find a leak, overheating or signs of combustion gases in the coolant, we suggest cooling system repair or a head gasket check.

FAQ
How much is a coolant flush?
From … GEL labor plus coolant. A drain and fill without flushing starts at … GEL.
Is a coolant flush necessary?
Not if the coolant is clean and you're staying with the same type. Yes if it's dirty, has deposits, or you're changing type.
Can I top up with water?
In an emergency, yes. Replace the mix afterwards, because water weakens corrosion and freeze protection.
Why is the engine hot or the heater cold after a coolant change?
Usually trapped air. We bleed the system as part of the job; if the change was done elsewhere, we can check and bleed it.
Can I mix coolants of different colors?
Go by type and spec, not color. If in doubt, do a change with flush.
How long does it take?
1-2 hours, longer with a flush.
